We were so close to the beach and to the preferred pool. The bathroom had 2 separate sink areas, a huge rain shower and a bathtub I used daily. The bed was wonderful, the pillows, the bedding was absolutely luxurious. More Show lessĪ whole week of pure bliss! We had an oceanfront room, leaving the window open to hear the roar of the ways all night long and greet the sunrise each morning. There are simply better options available. We chose this one because our past Secrets experience was positive, but unfortunately not this time. I think this is the last Secrets / Hyatt resort we'll be staying at for a sunny getaway. Generally, the service staff is friendly and helpful, and the entertainment was OK, albeit short and simple. Then there's the whole timeshare up sell on check-in (they call it something else now of course). We did do a day trip to CSL, which was a nice break from the resort, but it's also an expensive trip (~700MX via UBER each way) and ~45 mins one way (if there are no accidents). We went for 7 nights and by the end we were ready to leave. Anyway, being so isolated and not being able to swim in the ocean (due to riptides) makes anything more than a few days just too much (unless you don't care about spending $1K USD for spa and golf days). (We've had Preferred Club at another Secrets resort). The other pool offered is only available to you if you pay the extra $$ for the Preferred Club, which is just a waste. I don't know, but I expect the water to be crystal clear. Maybe the filtration/sanitation system couldn't keep up, or maybe there was a problem. My wife said several times that she thought the pool smelt of urine and I have to agree. We observed large groups of people spending entire days in the pool, drinking non-stop and never getting out. We've been to many other resorts such as this and we had never seen such poor water quality. As for the pool, the water just wasn't clean. Sometimes you would get a drink in a nice clear glass, the next one would be this ugly, yellow, vessel that is simply not acceptable. As for the bar, my biggest pet peeve is the number of plastic glasses that were obviously old, yellow and scratched that they should have been replaced years ago. The food ranged from just bad to very good, but in general, all very mediocre and the quality was much lower than what we expected. The services offered at the resort (Spa and Golf) are good, but at a very unreasonable cost. Overall the resort is good, but we think it's definitely over rated and just isn't good value for the experience.
